WaterWise Landscape Tour

Save the date for the WaterWise Landscape Tour!
Saturday, October 19, 2019
9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

The WaterWise Landscape Tour is a FREE, self-guided event. Explore beautiful, sustainable Plano landscapes that thrived in the summer heat, including several featured yards and the Environmental Education Center’s demonstration garden. You’ll discover attractive, drought-tolerant plants and much more. The featured yards are at various stages of maturity and each is unique. Their owners look forward to sharing their stories, experiences and best practices, as do the enthusiastic volunteers who will be present to answer your questions.

Tour at your own pace, and visit as many or as few locations as you’d like. Visit Tour Headquarters, the Environmental Education Center (4116 W. Plano Parkway, 75093), for FREE gardening tools while supplies last. Tour Headquarters is also the “Ask an Expert” area, where local experts will provide FREE consultations on landscape design, plant selection, efficient irrigation and composting. Registration is not required, and transportation is not provided.

We’re always on the lookout for beautiful, sustainable yards to showcase, but we need your eyes too. Want to nominate a yard to be considered for the WaterWise Landscape Tour? Contact Katie Masucci at katiem@plano.gov. Any yard that incorporates water-saving features is a contender. These could include native and adapted plants, reduced turf, pollinator gardens, inviting patios, rainwater harvesting, efficient irrigation and more. Contact Katie with any questions.
